Welcome to White Hall Vineyard

Hi y’all,

We’re Joel and Bethany Cassell, and we’re so glad you found your way to White Hall.

For years, we dreamed of owning a historic home, planting a vineyard, and one day opening a winery. When we purchased The Estate at White Hall Vineyard, that dream became real — though, like most worthwhile things, it grew in ways we never expected.

What began as a love for wine, history, and this beautiful old property soon became something much bigger. Friends encouraged us to share White Hall with others, and before long we were hosting weddings, community events, fundraisers, live music, and gatherings for families from all over Virginia and beyond.

White Hall is more than a winery. It is our home, a historic estate, and a place we feel called to preserve and share. Our Stable Chapel Tasting Room, built in 1850, and our Dairy Barn Cathedral, built in ~1900, have become beloved gathering places for weddings, celebrations, and quiet afternoons with a glass of wine in hand.

And then, of course, there are the goats.

Some of our favorite wine names were born out of one of our more painful — and now hilarious — vineyard stories. After Joel spent long, brutal days planting vines in the Virginia heat, our goats decided those vines were not so much a vineyard as an all-you-can-eat buffet. Their enthusiasm inspired names like Lucky Goat, Goats of Wrath, and Wandering Goat. Losing the vines was not funny at the time. Naming the wines afterward helped.

Thankfully, the wines themselves have given us much better memories. Over the years, guests have told us again and again that our wines are among the best they’ve tasted, and we’re grateful every time someone discovers a new favorite here.

Whether you come for the wine, the music, a wedding, the history, or just a peaceful afternoon on the estate, we hope White Hall feels welcoming from the moment you arrive. Check our calendar to see what’s coming up, and when you visit, there’s a good chance you’ll find one of us behind the bar.

We hope to meet you soon.
