History of White Hall Blog - Intro

There are some places that feel old the moment you step onto the property - not just because of the brick, timber, barns, or trees, but because the land itself seems to carry memory.

White Hall is one of those places.

Long before it became a winery, wedding venue, and gathering place, White Hall was part of the deep history of King George County and colonial Virginia, and you can still feel it. Generations of families lived here, worked here, celebrated here, grieved here, and left their mark on this land.

Today, guests know The Estate at White Hall Vineyard for wine, weddings, music, food trucks, and evenings with friends, but behind all of that is a much older story. One filled with historic families, old Virginia names, Revolutionary-era connections, working farm life, beautiful old buildings, and stories that are still being uncovered - and we love sharing them!

The old brick home…the stable built in the mid-1800s that is now our tasting room…the Dairy Barn built in the 1890s…the ancient trees…and even the quiet corners of the property all speak to the long life of this place.

At White Hall, history isn’t hidden behind a rope or locked away in a museum case—it’s still alive. You’ll find it in the old barns, the family gatherings, the wedding vows, and the friends sharing wine at the end of a long week.

White Hall has always been a place apart.

We hope you’ll come experience it for yourself!  We would love to welcome you!

Beginning this week, we’ll be sharing a different story each week, highlighting some of the people, families, and events that have shaped White Hall over the years. From colonial Virginia to the generations who lived, worked, celebrated, and left their mark here, there are so many fascinating stories to tell.

Bethany and I love history and have been researching White Hall since we purchased it in 2016. There are so many interesting stories to share.

So buckle up.

It’s going to be a super interesting series of posts, and we truly can’t wait to share it with you.
